Painting: Park Bollards
Help keep Shelby Park safe and beautiful! Join Friends of Shelby and your friends and neighbors as we refresh the paint on some safety bollards throughout the park.This is a great opportunity for everyone of all ages!
What will volunteers be doing at this event?
Our park bollards (the tall metal poles that line roadways) help keep drivers safe on our windy roads in Shelby, and they need a fresh coat of paint! Volunteers will join us for a morning of painting to help keep park users safe.
What is the community impact of this event?
This is essential to protecting our neighbors and all visitors to the park as the navigate our roadways. We want drivers to stay safely along our intended roads and avoid accidents and any off-roading within our forests.
What should volunteers bring to this event?
Volunteers should wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing they do not mind getting paint on throughout the event. Bringing a reusable water bottle is always recommended but not required. Friends of Shelby will provide all of the necessary paint, gloves, safety vests, and directions for those that need them.
Accessibility/safety:
This event will require volunteers to hold paintbrushes, as well as carry supplies to painting location. Volunteers may always return to the starting location for a rest break and water refilling stations. Volunteers will be walking along some roadways; they will be provided orange safety vests to make them more visible, but awareness of your surroundings is important to staying safe at this event. All children under age 16 must be accompanied by a guardian over 18 years of age.
