Shelby Park - Golf Clubhouse Landscaping
Come help us add beauty to the park with fresh plants!
What will volunteers be doing at this event?
Join Friends of Shelby as we beautify the clubhouse by pulling weeds, planting new plants around the building, and raking over mulch. Opened in 1924, the Shelby Park Golf Course is one of the oldest municipal courses in the United States so let's help to keep it looking its best!
What is the community impact of this event?
The Shelby Golf Course provides an affordable opportunity for community members to recreate and has done so for over 100 years! By maintaining and beautifying this space, we are helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable space for community members.
What should volunteers bring to this event?
Please bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, wear light-layers) and a refillable water bottle. Instructions, tools, gloves, and additional water will be provided. No previous plant or landscaping knowledge needed!
Accessibility/safety
Restrooms will be available on-site in the Shelby Golf Course Clubhouse
This event will require participants to bend down and get in the dirt by weeding, mulching, and planting.

FOS Mission/Summary:
Founded in 2008, the Friends of Shelby is a private, nonprofit organization working to preserve, enhance, and promote Shelby Park and Bottoms for everyone to appreciate and protect. We work to protect the natural and historical integrity of the area by supporting appropriate recreational activities, maintaining and enhancing its features, promoting programs that inspire appreciation and conservation of the Park and Bottoms, and advocating for a level playing field for the various user groups.
