Behind the Books: Children’s Department Organization Project-Main Library

Join Nashville Public Library for a hands-on organizing project that helps create a welcoming and accessible space for young readers!

Volunteers will work alongside library staff to organize and prepare materials in the Main Library Children’s Department.

Volunteers will help:
  • Clean and organize shelves
  • Transport and sort Summer Reading materials
  • Label boxes and shelving
  • Organize materials by age group or program
  • Stock shelves with materials
  • Break down and recycle empty boxes
Why It Matters
These behind-the-scenes tasks help library staff keep the Children’s Department organized and ensure young readers and their families can easily access books, programs, and educational resources.

By volunteering, you’ll help support early literacy and learning for the thousands of children and families who visit Nashville Public Library each year.

Come ready to roll up your sleeves, work as a team, and make a difference—one shelf, box, and book at a time!
