Help Take Care of Goats! Goat Guardians 2026-2027
Interested in helping to care for a herd of goats in Nashville? Join our Goat Guardians team!
We manage a small herd of Tennessee fainting goats in partnership with McGavock High School where the goats live and provide educational experiences for students in the agricultural program. We're looking for volunteers to help care for our herd for the 2026-2027 school year. Whether you've worked with goats before or you're just eager to learn, we'll provide the training you need in this 2-hour session.
As a volunteer, you'll learn how to:
- Feed and water the herd
- Assist with daily care routines
- Clean and maintain their living space
- Observe goat behavior and help keep them healthy and happy
This training opportunity is for individuals who would be willing to commit 1-2 hours a day at least 2 evenings a month from September 2026-September 2027. Volunteers would continue to have guidance from members of our team for several care sessions after this initial training session to ensure comfortability. Additional training will be made available if volunteers are interested in getting more involved and learning about medical care as well as targeted grazing (goatscaping).
After completing this training session, volunteers will decide if they want to formally commit to joining our team and will then go through an onboarding process which will include the following:
- Completing a background check
- Getting set up with our Goat Guardians App
- Providing additional contact info and joining our Goat Guardians group chat on Signal
