Weed Wrangle at Belle Forest Cave & Arboretum
TennGreen is once again honored to participate in the annual Weed Wrangle® coordinated by The Garden Club of Nashville.
Join us as we remove non-native plant species from TennGreen’s Belle Forest Cave & Arboretum. An invasive species is a plant, insect, or animal that establishes strong populations outside its natural range. These invasives outcompete native species for resources, causing a serious imbalance in the ecosystem. It is imperative to remove invasives to best support Tennessee’s native biodiversity.
Volunteers will use shovels, loppers, and weed wrenches to remove invasive plants manually. Gloves and all necessary tools will be provided. Prior invasive species management is not required. This event is intended for everyone: first-timers, amateurs, and experts! We will provide you with all the knowledge and tools you need to succeed.
Weed Wrangle® is a one-day, area-wide, volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from non-native invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines, and flowering plants. Supervised by an expert in invasive weed management, Weed Wrangle® volunteers learn, practice and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of non-native invasive plants and encourage replanting with natives in removal areas. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive plant population.
