Virtual Phone Receptionist
About the Role
The Phone Receptionist is often the first voice someone hears when reaching out to From Your Father. This role helps ensure families, partners, and community members feel welcomed, respected, and guided to the right next step.
This is a people-centered role focused on answering calls, sharing basic information, and routing messages appropriately.
What You’ll Do
- Answer incoming phone calls during assigned time windows
- Provide basic information about programs and services
- Direct callers to the appropriate staff member or resource
- Take clear messages and follow up as needed
- Log calls or notes in a simple tracking system
- Represent the organization with warmth and professionalism
- Location: Virtual
- Time Commitment: About 2 to 5 hours per week
- Schedule: Flexible availability during weekday hours
- Reports To: Executive Director or Operations Lead
- Friendly, calm, and comfortable speaking on the phone
- Able to work in a quiet, distraction-free environment
- Reliable with flexible availability during the day
- Organized and able to take accurate messages
- Comfortable using basic technology (phone system, email, notes)
- Front-line communications and customer service experience
- Professional phone etiquette and call handling
- Exposure to nonprofit operations and community services
- Experience supporting families and community partners
- Collaboration with leadership and operations teams
