Grocery Volunteer (Belmont) #sharing

ABOUT: The Store operates as a year-round free grocery store allowing people to shop for their basic needs. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. Our mission is to nourish communities and cultivate hope by providing nutritious food choices and access to supportive services in a dignified, loving environment. This volunteer opportunity will allow you to see your impact on the community in a real, tangible way. You will be helping provide wholesome food to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity in a welcoming environment that protects dignity and fosters hope.
ROLES: We are dependent on a volunteer base that is excited and passionate about building a better Nashville and Middle Tennessee. These volunteer shifts will mainly involve checking people out at the register, ensuring customers do not exceed specified item limits, bagging their groceries in a timely and efficient manner, and safely escorting customers to their vehicles with their groceries. At the start of the shift, you will have an orientation and brief training on our checkout system, so it is very important that you arrive on time. Roles will then be decided amongst volunteers and staff. During this shift you may also be greeting customers at check-in, helping people with questions while they shop, end of the day cleanup, maintaining store cleanliness throughout the day, stocking shelves/produce as needed, unloading pallets and other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. You will be able to take a break during your shift, so you are welcome to bring a snack and drink for break time.
SIGN UPS: We use a third-party website for our shift sign ups. After expressing interest, our Volunteer Coordinator will send you a link where you will be able to sign up for your desired shifts.
