South End UMC Garden Workday
Please note that "expressing interest" on our page on Hands On Nashville will NOT sign you up for this shift nor does our page on Hands On Nashville reflect the accurate number of spots available for any given shift. See below for more information.
About The Event:
Come volunteer at the beautiful hilltop garden at South End United Methodist Church in South Nashville! This long-standing community garden has served as a vital source of fresh produce for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity since 2011. Originally part of a Summer Food Program supporting local elementary school families, the garden now continues its mission by donating fresh vegetables each week to local food programs and nonprofit groups throughout the summer and fall.
Nestled among trees and birdsong, the garden features both vegetable beds and a thriving pollinator garden. Practicing sustainable methods like cover cropping and no-till gardening, the space is both productive and peaceful. Whether you're a seasoned grower or just curious about gardening, this is a wonderful chance to learn, connect, and make a real impact in your community.
What to Expect from the Opportunity:
Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks to support the ongoing success of the garden. Activities may include weeding, planting, watering, harvesting produce, or tending to pollinator plants—all while enjoying the cool shade of the morning. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to pitch in and help grow food for neighbors who need it most.

We use a third-party website for our shift sign ups. After expressing interest, our Volunteer Engagement Manager will send you a link to sign up for your desired shift.
