Volunteer Bagel Captain
Bagel Rescue is seeking passionate hunger relief warriors to create and lead rescue efforts in new cities. Under the guidance of Bagel Rescue’s Atlanta-based team, Bagel Rescue Captains will initiate food donor and recipient agency partnerships and lead a team of volunteers in weekly rescue and delivery routes.
We are seeking CAPTAINS who are:
- Passionate about reducing food waste and supporting hunger relief
- Able to organize and oversee a volunteer team - this may require daily management tasks
- Initial time commitment 15-20 hours
- Ongoing weekly time commitment 1-3 hours
- Resourceful, problem-solvers who can creatively and efficiently overcome challenges
- Flexible to complete rescue routes should volunteers not be available
- Effective communicators with all entities involved in the process including restaurateurs, feeding program leadership, volunteers, and Bagel Rescue staff
- A positive representative of the Bagel Rescue brand
- Willing to dedicate themselves to the role for at least one year
CAPTAINS may be individuals or an organization interested in leading this local project, including but not limited to:
- Someone looking for a passion project to make a difference in their community.
- A group of friends, co-workers, etc.… interested in working on an ongoing project together.
- A religious, school, community, or service organization hoping to own a specific project that their members can participate in regularly.
Bagel Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization supporting hunger relief in the metro Atlanta area by connecting restaurants with excess food - specifically bagels - to neighbors in need. Through generous donations from local bakeries, volunteers deliver bagels to food pantries, shelters, feeding programs, and community outreach efforts. Our goal is to reduce food waste and support hunger relief, one bagel at a time.
