Be the greater good. Hands On AmeriCorps.

Members make a lasting impact on our community while earning money for college.

Hands On is currently hosting 20 local college-aged students to serve as AmeriCorps members during the 2024-2025 school year. The Hands On AmeriCorps program helps Nashville-area nonprofit organizations build their capacity to meet critical community needs through outreach and volunteer engagement, while also developing a new generation of nonprofit professionals.

During their term, members serve 15 or 20 hours per week, receive a semi-monthly living allowance, and earn an education award once they complete the required number of service hours.  As AmeriCorps members, they engage volunteers and new supporters for local nonprofits and learn valuable skills for their future.

AmeriCorps Host Sites mentor members throughout their term. Service mentors provide supervision, one-on-one support, professional development, and guidance that help each member positively impact the program they serve.

The Hands On AmeriCorps Program is made possible through generous support from Volunteer Tennessee, local grants, and AmeriCorps, the federal agency connecting individuals and organizations through service and volunteering to tackle the nation's most pressing challenges.

Each AmeriCorps participant is part of a National Service cohort that builds nonprofit capacity through a partnership between Hands On and participating AmeriCorps host sites. Members receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities throughout their yearlong term. Hands On does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or other factors that deny the essential humanity of all people.
