Senior Tech Academy

Help bridge the digital divide.

MDHA’s Digital Skills opportunity reduces social isolation and increases access to essential services through digital literacy and inclusion for older adults (60 years and older). As part of this free program, participating seniors will receive age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, digital literacy training and take home a high-quality tablet device. Participants will learn to use technology in meaningful ways to break down barriers to fully engage in their communities, correspond with others and improve overall health and well-being through expanded community connections and support services.

MDHA is offering multiple Senior Tech Academy programs. Each program is one-week long and includes three (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) classes per week. Each cohort meets (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Training will be provided. Class schedule:

January 14th - 16th and January 21st- 23rd
February 18th - 20th and February 25th- 27th
April 15th - 17th and April 22nd- 24th

MDHA is seeking long-term volunteers to assist in each Senior Tech Academy program for specified week. To build trust and nurture relationships with participants, it is helpful for the same volunteer(s) to serve multiple days. Each cohort includes up to 20 participants who need a wide range of assistance ranging from the basics on how to use a tablet to more advanced assistance like how to set up a telehealth appointment.

Participating in these courses is a lot of fun! Plus, it is rewarding to see participants learn and grow in confidence. If you are interested, we would love to hear from you! Please reach out to discuss availability and scheduling.
