Volunteer at the St. Patrick's Day Music City Half Marathon #spring
Do you love the energy of race runners? Want to help encourage, support, and guide them in their pursuit of a new personal best time? Come volunteer at the 19th Annual Publix St. Patrick's Music City Half Marathon, 10k & 5k on Saturday, March 15th, 2025!
What will volunteers be doing at this event?
- Course Sentries will stand at assigned locations along the race course in Shelby Bottoms to keep runners moving in the right direction. All Course Sentry volunteers should check in no later than 7:15am before moving to their assigned location. Course Sentry spots to last 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on course assignment location, which will be discussed with each volunteer once they sign up.
- Volunteers at the Post Race Food Area will help with the set-up and distribution of food to race runners. Volunteers should arrive before 7:30 AM for check-in and will be working until around 11:30 AM.
What is the community impact of this event?
Volunteers will both guide and encourage runners on their race, as well as help distribute food to runners, creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere in Shelby Bottoms. This will also aid Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms, as the success of this event will translate into support for the organization as the featured nonprofit of the race. Friends of Shelby works year-round to support Shelby Park and Bottoms through improvement projects, community programming, and recreation clubs.
What should volunteers bring to this event?
Volunteers should be sure to wear closed-toe shoes that are comfortable to walk and stand in for multiple hours at a time. Please also be sure to wear comfortable clothing that's appropriate for the predicted weather (layers are typically ideal this time of year as the temperature can fluctuate) and to wear sun protection like hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Water will be provided, but you may also wish to bring your own water bottle.
