Drive Cancer Patients To Treatment
What’s often standing between people with cancer and lifesaving treatment is a ride to get there. The American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers, especially in Davidson County. Unfortunately, we can’t provide rides to everyone who asks us to help them.
Volunteers with Road To Recovery use their personal vehicle to drive patients with limited or no transportation to cancer-related treatment appointments.
Rides are weekdays. You choose the rides that work with your schedule. We encourage drivers to provide 2 rides per month; many volunteers help several times a month. Depending on the distance, a ride to pick up someone in the area and drive to a cancer treatment appointment may take 60-90 minutes.
Volunteer drivers are ages 18-84 with
- A safe driving record
- A current license
- A reliable vehicle, and vehicle insurance
- Volunteers are interested in completing online training and a background check. Volunteers review available rides via an online scheduling tool.
The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
