Middle School After School Program Mentor/ Tutor
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A VOLUNTEER: Becoming a volunteer in our afterschool program means you serve as a smiling face and welcoming spirit to the kids coming from local middle schools.
The middle school after-school program will focus on four core areas: physical fitness and games, academic enrichment, emotional-focused therapy, and supplemental meals. Age range is 6th through 8th grade.
Mentors will help facilitate each component of the program by providing a friendly face, loving spirit, and support to teachers and staff working to provide tutoring or other instruction. In addition, you will serve as a trusted mentor and friend to children, helping to ensure positive behavior choices and peer interactions.
ONBOARDING EXPECTATIONS: It is standard procedure at Dream Streets for our volunteers 18 and older to complete a background check. You are required to complete this before starting any volunteer role. Because of the nature of our work and mobile accessibility in our communities of service, you may come in contact with a minor even if the position you are volunteering for is not student oriented. We will send the link in an email after you complete this sign-up.
Dream Streets exists to protect and empower people living in distress. We serve individuals and families living in poverty in West and North Nashville through supplemental resources, wrap around services, and holistic support.
