2024 Golden Pheasant Triathlon

If you enjoy hanging out in beautiful parks and/or supporting sweaty athletes in their noble endeavors, then this event is for you!

Shelby Park and Bottoms will be hosting the sixth annual Golden Pheasant Triathlon on September 29th, with all proceeds going to Friends of Shelby and Walk Bike Nashville. Support these organizations and the athletes participating in the race! Volunteers will receive a Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms volunteer t-shirt for their service.

What will volunteers be doing at this event? We have a need for several positions, listed below. If one of them interests you, sign up for the time slot that matches that service position.

  • Race Setup (6:30am–8am): setting up bike racks, installing temporary fencing, setting out refreshments, and placing signage.
  • Registration Check-in (7am-9:30am): helping athletes check in on the morning of the race.
  • Refreshments and Transition Area (8am-9:45am and 9:30 am-11am): providing refreshments to athletes during the race, provide guidance to racers as they move through transition areas.
  • Bike Leg Monitor (8:30am-10:30am): riding on the course (using your own bike) to monitor and guide athletes.
  • Race Route Crossing Guards (9am-11am): guiding/stopping traffic to help athletes safely cross roads.
  • Clean-up (10:30am-11:30am): just like it sounds!

If you choose to serve with us, you will receive further email communication with more specific directions for getting you where you need to be on race day.

Accessibility/Safety:
Bathroom facilities will vary based on the position you choose. There will be a restroom close to registration check-in, but the other positions may place volunteers up to a mile from a restroom.

For folks who are mobility limited, registration check-in and some of the refreshments and transition areas are good options.
