DG PENCIL Box Volunteer Captains - Help Teachers by Running a Free Teacher Store

PENCIL is seeking individuals interested in becoming recurring Volunteers at the DG PENCIL Box! Our team is looking for volunteers interested in returning frequently to the DG PENCIL Box on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. As Volunteer Captains, you will help assist novice volunteer groups, serve as a welcoming face for educators, and assist our staff during peak shopping and preparation hours. Must be 18 or older to participate. Upon registration, you will be contacted by a member of our team to begin the onboarding process.

About the DG PENCIL Box:
The DG PENCIL Box is a resource center for MNPS teachers to shop for free items for their students and their classroom. On average, a teacher shopper leaves with around $500 in great supplies for their students.

As a volunteer with The DG PENCIL Box Store Crew, you will assist teacher shoppers and volunteer groups with check-in and check-out, restock store shelves with educational goodies, load teachers' cars with free stuff, sort/bundle donations, and create manipulatives for distribution.

No day at The DG PENCIL Box is ever the same! Come join our Store Crew and make a difference in the lives of public school students!

Event Agenda:
Volunteers typically restock the store, package supplies to hang in the store, or sort recently received donations. Volunteer Captains will be expected to help lead and direct groups of volunteers. See below for details regarding typical expectations and instructions for visiting our warehouse.
•Activities: PENCIL info session, Sorting donations, Creating items for our Classroom Creatives section of the store (die cuts, journals, laminating, etc.), Bundling, bagging, and tagging items for the store, or Stocking the store
•What to wear/bring: Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing. We will have water bottles available for you, but you are welcome to bring your own reusable bottle.
•Parking: is available in our back lot. When you turn into PENCIL’s driveway, follow the sign to the access road to the left. It will take you to a gravel lot where you can park.
•Entrance: From the gravel lot – walk across the bridge towards the warehouse. The door that you will enter through will be the last door to the right. It has our logo on it and says “Welcome.”
•Check-in: will be with Robert Moxley or Juan Williams as you come into the building. Volunteers will be asked to scan a QR code to sign in and we will get them started on their projects.
•COVID-19 Procedures: As of March 21st, PENCIL is a mask optional facility, but we will have masks available for anyone who would like to wear one.
