Elementary After School Tutor/Mentor
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A VOLUNTEER: Becoming a volunteer in our afterschool program means you serve as a smiling face and welcoming spirit the kids coming from local elementary schools.
The elementary after-school arts program will focus on four core areas: fine arts, academic enrichment, emotional-focused therapy, and supplemental meals. Age range from Kingergarten thru 5th grade.
Mentors help facilitate each component of the program by providing a friendly face, loving spirit, and support to hired teachers working to provide tutoring or fine arts instruction. In addition, you will serve as a trusted mentor and friend to children, helping to ensure positive behavior choices and peer interactions.
ONBOARDING EXPECTATIONS: It is standard procedure at Dream Streets for our volunteers 18 and older to complete a background check. You are required to complete this before starting any volunteer role. Because of the nature of our work and mobile accessibility in our communities of service, you may come in contact with a minor even if the position you are volunteering for is not student oriented. We will send the link in an email after you complete this sign-up.
Dream Streets exists to protect and empower people living in distress. We serve individuals and families living in poverty in West and North Nashville through supplemental resources, wrap around services, and holistic support.
